이전 포스팅에 이어 Part 별 기본 숙지사항을 알아보자.

아래 표는 ETS에서 제공하는 정보들을 몇가지 짜집기 한것으로 기본적인 Part별 설명이 되어 있다.

또, 공식 사이트에서 샘플문제를 제공하는데, high/middle/low level 별 답안이 나와 있으므로 공부에 참고할 수 있다. (http://exam.ybmsisa.com/toeicswt/introduce/test.asp)

Part 1: Read a text aloud

 

Directions:  In this part of the test, you will read aloud the text on the screen. You will have 45 seconds to prepare. Then you will have 45 seconds to read the text aloud

Part 1은 문장 읽기로, 총 2문항이 있으며, 준비시간 45초/답변시간 45초로 이루어져 있다.

Warming-up 이라고 보면 된다. 준비시간동안 한 차례 읽어서 처음보는 단어거나 고유명사등을 한 번 씩 발음해 본다. 억양, 액샌트 등에 유의하면서 천천히 읽으면 되고, 아무리 천천히 읽어도 한 10초 이상 남는다.

 

 

Part 2: Describe a picture

 

Directions:  In this part of the test, you will describe the picture on your screen in as much detail as you can. You will have 30 seconds to prepare your response. Then you will have 45 seconds to speak about the picture.

그림을 보고 가능한 자세하게 설명하면 된다. 30초간 설명할 위치를 정해놓고, 중요 Key word는 미리 발음해 본다. 설명하는 도중에 끊겨도 되니까 가능한 많은 부분을 설명하도록 하면 된다. 실제 ETS에서 제공하는 High level sample 에서도 설명 도중 녹음이 끊어진다. TOEIC과 TOEIC Speaking은 같은 ETS에서 출제하므로, TOEIC Listening 사진묘사 문제와 비슷한 사진을 사용할 것으로 생각된다. 그림 Source가 부족하면 무턱대고 아무 사진이나 설명하는 것 보다는 이를 활용하면 좋을 것 같다.

 

 

Part 3: Respond to questions

 

Directions:  In this part of the test, you will answer three questions. For each question, begin responding immediately after you hear a beep. No preparation time is provided. You will have 15 seconds to respond to Questions 4 and 5 and 30 seconds to respond to Question 6.

가장 중요한 특징은 준비시간이 없다는 것이다. 준비시간이 없기 때문에 즉각적으로 대답할 수 있는 임기응변이 필요하다. Question 4, 5 의 경우에는 그럭저럭 할 수 있는데 Question 6의 경우는 상당히 어려운 질문이 나오기도 한다. 그리고 Question 6의 문제는 Part 6 의 Question 11과 비슷하기 때문에 Question 6 문제를 Question 11 문제로 공부 할 수 도 있다. (혹은 반대로) Part 4/5의 경우에는 질문한 것에만 답을 하면 되고, 가능하다면 추가적으로 이유 등을 설명해도 된다. 답변 후 시간이 남아도 된다. Question 6의 경우에는 30초를 다 채우는 것이 좋고, 녹음 도중 끊겨도 된다.
